Daybreak

Now, who can stop the day from breaking?
Rain taps, white hot breeze
But, who can stop the trees from shaking?
Morning calls, soft memories

The mind knows, the body hunts
It wasn’t so hard, then
I knew you once -
Can I know you again?

Please, who can stop the day from breaking?
What bids the bluebird sing?
Now, who can stop my chest from aching?
Why - does the sunlight sting?

Dancing, in the living room, gently breathing
Chest to chest - rain falling
Heart to heart - breeze heaving
Step to step - I know, I’m stalling

Red peeks through, the bluebird is waking
A memory rests, the day is breaking
